Your Consultant Website Launch Kit

Move from comparing platforms to making a considered decision and getting your website ready. Six practical resources, yours to use.

The decision in brief

Start with the brief, compare only the options that pass your must-haves, then draft your content and verify the complete inquiry journey. The kit keeps those decisions in one place.

A small working system for your launch

This is an original Best Solution Guides resource for independent consultants. The workbook is editable Markdown that opens in any text editor, and the spreadsheet templates are CSV files. A printable HTML edition makes the material easy to read and save as a PDF from your browser.

  1. Website brief: audience, offer, boundaries, must-haves and a definition of a successful inquiry.
  2. Copy workbook: prompts for your homepage, service page, evidence and next step.
  3. Vendor scorecard: weighted criteria and a separate pass/fail gate for critical requirements.
  4. Budget worksheet: payment amounts, coverage, renewals and owner time.
  5. Launch checklist: 16 checks covering the public journey and operational handover.
  6. Maintenance log: a place to record changes, checks, responsibility and follow-up.

How to use it well

Fill in the brief before visiting pricing pages. Name the customer action the site needs to support and define the features that are truly required. Keep preferences separate from those must-haves.

Complete the scorecard after trying the same tasks in each candidate. Scores are your observations, not ratings supplied by us. Multiply each 0–5 score by its weight and divide by 100 to get an overall 0–5 result. A failed critical requirement disqualifies an option regardless of its total.

Use the calculator for payment timing, then save its output with your vendor quotes. Draft the copy before refining the design. Use the checklist on the real site, and assign a person to the maintenance log after launch.

Use permission: You may adapt these templates for your own business or client projects. Do not resell or redistribute the unchanged kit as your own product. The kit is planning material, not a substitute for specialist advice where your project requires it.
